

Last Dec. 7th, 2008 in Villa Traful was the 3rd Edition of the Q50 Patagonia Ultra. An amazing sunny day, high temperature and a stunning & challenging course where part of a unique event.
Gustavo Reyes from Argentina was the winner of this edition in the 50 miles and Cecilia Billiet, also from Argentina won the female 50 miles modality.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Date: December 7th, 2008. Summer in Patagonia!
Location: Traful Village – 7 Lakes Region in Northern Patagonia – Argentina. Traful is a very small Village surrounded by mountains and pristine water lakes. It’s about 105 Miles from San Carlos de Bariloche and 40 Miles from Villa La Angostura.

Divisions: We’d like that a wide range of mountain marathoners and ultra runners participate in the event, therefore, the Q50 Patagonia has 2 divisions:
- 50 miles (80K) Solo, Men and Women.
- 50 miles (80K) 2-person Team Relay of 25 miles (40K) each (Men, Women, and Coed Teams).
Run solo or find a teammate and enjoy a race you will not forget!
- 10k Fun Run - Send us an email stating that you want to be part of it with your full name, PSP nbr, birth date and t-shirt size.
As most of the course will be within a National Park there are ONLY 150 ENTRIES AVAILABLE.
Cut off Time: 14 hs. for both Solo and 2-person Team Relay.
Surface: Marked dirt road and trails. Hilly terrain.
Weather: The race is scheduled for Spring Season in Patagonia to take advantage of mild temperatures and long days. However, Patagonian weather is famous for being unpredictable, it can be windy, even cold. We will send you the forecast a few days before the race.Average Temperatures: 46 F (8 ºC) to 74 F (23 ºC)
SAFETY: Doctors and 2 ambulances, a Mountain rescue team, and all our staff will be taking care of the runners all over the course. The race also has the invaluable support of National Park Nahuel Huapi Rangers. Your safety is VERY IMPORTANT FOR US! You enjoy the race; we take care of everything else!

Every runner will receive:

Cash: The first 3 places on each category will receive cash.
Q50 GIVES BACK!: As all the Q50 Races, part of the proceeds of the race will be donated by Q50 Races to an entity of Villa Traful.
THE COURSE:
Course Map: It will be available very soon
Altitude Variation Curve: It will be available very soon
START: Villa Traful –Traful Port on the amazing Traful Lake.
FINISH: Villa Traful –Traful Port on the amazing Traful Lake.
DISTANCE: 50 Miles. Nonstop.
SURFACE: Marked dirt road and trails. Hilly terrain. First part of the course will be more hilly than the last half.
TRANSITION POINT (RELAY): It will be in the Mile 25 of the course. Those running in teams of 2, will make the relay here. 25 miles Transition point will also be a Drop Bags pick up station (check Rules for further information).
CONTROL POINTS: CPs will be located in different point of the course and their location will be informed at the Pre-race Meeting.
AID STATIONS: Every 6.25 miles – HYDRATION (Purified bottled water and Gatorade). FOOD AND HYDRATION every 12.5 miles
RULES
PLEASE NOTE: Each runner is expected to know and respect Q50 Race rules. Also, participants will be responsible for being in the adequate both physical (medical checking) and training level to face a 50 miller Ultramarathon. All the information about the race, course, etc. will be available in this website, so, runners will know the characteristics of the challenge in advanced.

RULES
The Q50 Patagonia is an Environmental Friendly Event. Please, leave no trace.
•Please, don’t litter! Carry your garbage to the next aid station and drop it there. Any runner littering during the race will be disqualified.
•There will be ambulances, doctors, and all the race staff available at the course to take good care of runners, any need or assistance must be required to them only. Q50 Races is not responsible for any assistance provided to the runners by someone not belonging to the organization staff.
•Friends or assistants are allowed to help runners ONLY at the designated aid stations.
•The race course will include mandatory check points, which may be modified or cancelled at any time by the race Director.
•No Pacers allowed.
•For safety matters, no vehicle following the runners is allowed.
•No aid or assistance may be given to the runners other than at the designated stations from people not belonging to the Race Staff.
•Check points cut-off times are non-negotiable.
•Runner number must be worn outside of the t-shirt, so it can be easily seen.
•Be courteous to other runners, watch for each other.
•There will be a mandatory pre-race meeting on Saturday 8th in Villa Traful, in which important information about the race, details about the course, and other main details will be informed to the runners. Organization will provide transportation to the meeting place; every runner is responsible for attending this meeting and being informed of the details provided there. Note: Runners will be informed about transportation, meeting time and place in due time.
•Relay Point: It will be located in Mile 25 of the course. Here, Team member #1 must give the team number to the team member #2, who must wear the number in a visible place on the front and outside of the t-shirt.
•Relay teams: Team member 1 must complete the first 25 miles of the course up to the Relay Point, Team member 2 will complete from that point up to the finish line.
•Participants are responsible for their medical care coverage once they are at the hospital in case of emergency. Note: Medical coverage and ambulances will be available in the course and finish line to assist all participants.
Only runners older than 18 years old at the day of the event are allowed.
INFRACTIONS RESULTING IN DESQUALIFICATION:
•Short-cutting on the course.
•Missing a check point.
•Receiving aid or assistance other than in aid stations from anyone not belonging to the Race Staff.
•Getting in a moving vehicle.
•Littering
MANDATORY ELEMENTS
- Camelback or Hydration belt containing enough water, Gatorade or any other drink. In this endurance races, being well hydrated is vital. Each runner will be responsible to carry enough food and Hydration to assure their proper Hydration and energy income between the Aid stations provided by the organization. Every 6.25 miles – HYDRATION (Purified bottled water and Gatorade). FOOD AND HYDRATION every 12.5 miles.
- The race number must be worn on the front of the shirt or t-shirt, unmodified, unfolded, and visible at all times during the race.
CUT OFF TIME
Cut off time is 14 hours for both Solo and Relay divisions.
RELAY DIVISION
The Relay Transition Point will be in Mile 25. In this point Team member 1 must complete the first 25 miles of the course up to the Relay Point, Team member 2 will complete from that point up to the finish line.
DROP BAGS
Drop Bags pick up: Mile 25 at Relay Transition Point and Finish Line.
Please, avoid putting valuable belongings in the Drop Bag. Although there will be someone taking care of runners Drop Bag, the organizers will not be responsible for any lost or damage in whatever you’ve put in it.
SUGGESTIONS:
•We recommend all runners to have a Medical Travel Insurance.
•Runners will be provided with bottled purified water in the course. We recommend you not to drink water from streams, we can´t take its purity for granted.
